This day is not starting well. I have just found out that one of my former students was killed in an accident over the weekend. She just graduated from high school last year. I'm really in disbelief except of course, disbelief with tears. I'll be going to the service today at 10 a.m. This is going to be a long day.

I was just thinking yesterday about the friend of mine that was killed right around this time my sophomore year in college back in 1989 (it was an ice storm just like the one we just had) - such a hard, hard time. I'm so sorry to hear this news of such a similar tragedy - I know how difficult this must be for you.
